Did we ever think we would have anything to say? No! but in the last 6 months the Lord God has asked that we put our lamps on stands.
There are so many voices belonging to true, fake and half finished conversations... amidst all that, is there anything new to say? Probably not. Words are put together in sentences and many times they don't make sense or don't have any meaning for the things that are important. Can words change your life?
So then, what are we doing here? Does the world need more words?
What did the Lord mean when He asked us to put our lamps on stands? He is calling us to share ourselves, our lives and more specifically our experiences of Him.
I was standing in work two weeks ago and felt the Lord say "I want to tell you something". I opened the bible and this was the verse: "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.’ (Mark 4:21-22 NIV).
This experience of the Lord prompting us to listen is something we have come to love. This is the first post in our blog and we are excited! Maybe it will be a place for us to put all our experiences, to remind us of His goodness and divine favour- or - hopefully, it will be an encouragement to you!
Who or what is our lamp? A lamp is a light that expels the darkness. At night when we can't see, even a small light gives us sight. In fact, the darker it is, the greater effect the light has. We know that Jesus is the light, He said “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12 NKJV). So at this time, when things seem really dark, we have light... and hope in Jesus. He is our lamp light, the closer we stand to Him, the more time we spend with Him, the clearer we will see.
We want to put Jesus on the stand of our lives, that He is clearly seen. Our desire is that the experiences He has given us are no longer concealed but brought into the open!
"You are children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness." (1 Thessalonians 5:5 NIV)
"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, in him there is not darkness at all." (1 John 1:5 NIV)
